Postdoctoral Researchers


Dr Wojciech Drożdż was born in 1991 in Częstochowa, Poland. Since 2010 he has been studying Chemistry at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In 2013 he obtained his BSc degree under the supervision of Prof. Koroniak. The same year he joined the prof. Stefankiewicz research group, in which he continued his scientific work, receiving MSc (2015) and PhD (2019) degrees with honors. Since September 2019 he has been the leader of SONATINA 3, being employed as a research assistant professor at his home university. His current research focuses on the design and synthesis of novel functional three-dimensional architectures based on reversible bonds.


Dr Grzegorz Markiewicz was born in 1992 in Poznań, Poland. In 2014 he obtained his BSc degree under the supervision of Prof. B. Gierczyk at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In 2014 he joined the Stefankiewicz research group, where he works mainly on supramolecular and metallosupramolecular assemblies. In June 2016 he obtained his MSc degree, and in October 2016 started his doctoral studies. In 2017 and 2018 he completed two Erasmus internships at Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands (5 months), under the supervision of Prof. M. M. J. Smulders. In October 2019 he obtained his PhD degree for his work about non-covalent self-assembly. Since 2020 he is working in the Center for Advanced Technology (CAT).


Dr Anna Walczak was born in 1991 in Szczecinek, North Poland. Since 2010 she was studying Chemistry at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In 2013 she received her Bachelor’s degree for the work entitled „Functionalized dendrimeric complexes of analoges of 4-formylbenzoboronic acid anhydrides with amines”. The same year she began her Master’s degree in the Prof. A. Katrusiak research group. She was responsible for high-pressure crystallography. In October 2015 she started her PhD studies in the Stefankiewicz research group where she will be working on the dynamic metal-organic frameworks.


Dr Mangili Venkateswarulu received his undergraduate degree from Sri Krishnadevaraya University India in 2009, followed by a Master’s degree from the same university in 2011 with organic chemistry as the specialisation. He then moved to the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi for his Ph.D. where he worked with Prof. Subrata Ghosh. His Ph.D. work focussed on mechanistic insights into inter-/intra-molecular thiolysis of sulfonate esters. After finishing his Ph.D., he worked for three years as a post-doctoral research associate in the prof. P. S. Mukherjee’s group, before joining the Stefankiewicz group at Adam Mickiewicz University in October 2022. His research interests include the application of Metallo-supramolecular capsules in biological settings.


PhD Students



Anna Brzechwa-Chodzyńska was born in 1992 in Poznań, Poland. She started studying chemistry in 2011 at the Faculty of Chemistry at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In 2014 she received her BSc for the work titled UV-filters in cosmetics. In the same year she began her MSc degree and joined the Stefankiewicz research group. During her post-graduate studies she worked on dynamic libraries of boronic esters and also participated in a 3-month internship at the Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires in France, where she worked on the electrochemical exfoliation of graphene. In 2016 she received her MSc degree in chemistry for the work titled „Generation of dynamic libraries of boronic esters. Preparation of graphene in the process of electrochemical exfoliation of graphite. Generating a film of Graphene”. After completing her MSc degree, she took up the position of Quality Manager at the Berg+Schmidt company, after a year in the corporation decided to return to the world of science. Now (2018) she has returned to the Stefankiewicz research group and began her PhD studies. She is working on non-covalent supramolecular architectures.


Filip Perlitius was born in 1995 in Wrocław. In 2014 he is a chemistry student specializing in the analitical chemistry at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. In February 2015 he joined the Stefankiewicz research group. His work is focused on hydrogen bonding architectures and supramolecular polymers. He recieved B.Sc. degree in 2017. In 2019 he recieved his M.Sc. degree in chemistry for the work entitled „Synthesis of benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid derivatives with achiral amino acids for investigation of amplification of chirality in hydrogen bonded capsules.”. The same year he started PhD studies and his work is focused on hydrogen bonded capsules.


Gracjan Kurpik was born in 1995 in Września. Due to his passion for chemistry, he decided to develop his knowledge in this direction, starting to study chemistry at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, specialty: general chemistry. Right after the commencement of his studies, he joined the Stefankiewicz group, involving actively in realization of various research projects. In 2017, he received his B. Sc. degree. The same year he began his Master’s course, accomplishing it in 2019 with the work “Highly efficient Cu(I) catalyst system based on ambidentate ligands in amination reaction of aryl halides”. Gracjan decided to continue his research work in the Stefankiewicz group and started PhD studies. His work is currently focused on synthesis of novel metallosupramolecular compounds and their applications in catalysis.


Wiktoria Adamska was born in 1996 in Poznań, Poland. In 2018 she obtained her BSc degree under the supervision of Prof. M. Chrzanowska at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In this group she continued her scientific work, receiving MSc in 2020 for the work entitled “Synthesis of aminoacetals and chiral aminoesters, substrates in methanedibenzo[c,f]azocine skeleton design”. In October 2021 she started her PhD studies in the Stefankiewicz research group.


Weronika Wachowicz was born in 1998 in Nowa Sól, Poland. Since 2017 she studied chemistry at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In 2020 she completed her Bachelor’s project titled: „H/D Exchange in naphthalene ring of naproxen.”. In the same year she began her Master studies and joined the Stefankiewicz research group. In 2022 she recieved her M.Sc. degree in chemistry for the work entitled „Synthesis, structural analysis and catalytic properties of bimetallic metallosupramolecular cages.”. The same year she started PhD studies and her work is focused on heterometallic coordination nanocages.


Adrianna Szmulewicz was born in 1998 in Poznań, Poland. She started studying chemistry in 2017 at the Faculty of Chemistry at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In 2020 she received her Bachelor’s degree under the supervision of dr Jacek Rutkowski. Later that year she began her Master’s degree, accomplishing it in 2022 with the work done under the supervision of Prof. Karol Kacprzak, entitled „Synthesis and investigation of chiral solvatochromic dye from 5′-aminodihydrocupreine”. In the same year she joined Stefankiewicz research group and started her PhD studies in the field of non-covalent supramolecular architectures.


Agnieszka Bajer was born in 1997 in Gniezno, Poland. In 2019 she obtained her BSc degree under the supervision of dr Szymon Rogalski at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Later that year she began her Master’s degree, accomplishing it in 2021 with the work done under the supervision of Prof. Anetta Hańć. In the same year, she began her second Master studies and joined the Stefankiewicz research group. In 2023 she received M.Sc. degree in chemistry for the work entitled „Synthesis and analysis of new catalysts with Pt and Pd ions for potential applications in the materials and food industries”. The same year she started PhD studies.


Sidharth Walia was born in New Delhi in 1993. He received his bachelor’s degree in life science from the University of Delhi in 2015. After that, he got his master’s degree in chemistry from Himachal Pradesh University with a specialization in organic chemistry. In 2019, he joined the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, India as a project associate working on the successful completion of a Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS) funded project under Dr. Subrata Ghosh. Following this he worked on Spring Rejuvenation for Water Security in Himalayas funded by the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS). Along with this, he has worked on developing fluorescent sensors for biomedical and environmental applications. In 2024 he started PhD studies and joined Dr. Stefankiewicz group.
